Easily Create Professional Documents and Letters and Save Them in Various Formats

I've used Word since Office 2010 was released and have installed it on almost every Business PC iI have worked on. It has become the standard in most businesses and they cater to end-users too meaning households can get access to the product at cheaper rates. After getting used to how it works, everything becomes easier to use and before you know it you will be making quality documents quickly and accurately as there is a built-in spell checker to help you.

Pros

I love that I can create any type of document that I need for any specific purpose. There are templates that make the process even easier. I can add pictures and modify text to suite all my needs. Saving documents in different formats like PDF is as simple as clicking Save As and selecting the File type from the drop down list. Word makes it easy and saves me alot of time which I can use on other business aspects.

Cons

I didn't find it user-friendly to beginners but after a week I found that I could use the program flawlessly. Other than that I am reallt happy.

Just for advanced users, for regular there are plenty of alternatives

For 2 decades MS Word was only choice. With new century and alternatives like OpenOffice or Google Docs buying MS Word for most of users is a mistake. If you are advanced user, need a version control (see how GitHub works btw) document workflow or doc management - maybe it will be a good app for you.

Pros

+ first mover advantage: they created a market, so everything that other alternatives implemented is some kind of copy/inspiration of "good old Word"
+ well known interface
+ no compatibility issues even between older .doc versions
+ great functions that can connect other apps from MS Office (like connecting to Excel to print envelopes with mail merge functions)
+ great online library of doc templates
+ commenting and editor functions
+ vocabularies

Cons

- price, especially that for most of functions you may use a free alternatives like Google Docs, OpenOffice, LibreOffice etc.
- current layout is very hard to use comparing to MS Word 97
- who need a WordArt in the world of Canva?
- consumes a lot of resources, especially if document contains some pasted images (it should have something like lazy load in websites)

Alternatives Considered

Google Docs, Apache OpenOffice and LibreOffice

Reasons for Switching to Microsoft Word

Because I didnt want to convert all DOC files to their open formats. Unfortunatly, few years ago it was a must and didnt work properly in most cases. But now it works like a charm.

Great assets but finicky

Reviewed on 26/11/2018

Pros

Word outshines Google Docs or other alternatives in many ways. My favorites include being able to jointly review a document using Track Changes and comments, being able to save and re-use phrases/paragraphs in Quick Parts, being able to copy and paste font style using Format Painter, using the Find and Replace tool to quickly update multiple spots throughout a document, and being able to paste an excel list into Word to replace paragraph marks with a comma to create a comma separated list (or vice versa by pasting a blob of email addresses from Outlook into Word and replacing semi-colons with paragraph markers so I can plop it into Excel and have a clean, list that I can now sort and filter.

Cons

While I appreciate the great perks of Word, some of its features can be quite frustrating and finicky. When trying to train other users on Word it's hard to explain "sometimes it does this, but sometimes it doesn't"; I almost have to train with contingency plans. For example, when Word decides you want an extra blank page at the end of your document and despite removing paragraph marks and pressing delete a hundred times and changing the font size to point 1 you end up having to remove a whole line of text from your table just to get it to go away. Or for another example, when you paste text in from outside of Word and it refuses to strip formatting or integrate into your automated numbering despite choosing those options. Or last example, when you're trying to indent just one line and Word refuses to not send the surrounding lines over as well like a little brother who won't stay put. So overall, Word has some great features, but the ones that don't work as they should can be quite annoying.

Microsoft has been a pleasure to work with; I use it every day for work. It facilitates teamwork and aids in my work as well. The incorporation of Microsoft 365's Word, Excel, and Outlook products improves my productivity.

Pros

The latest iterations of Microsoft Word are very remarkable. They have a clean, light feel to them. Numerous options and functionalities are well-organized and readily available. When you need assistance, you can peruse a wide range of resources.

Cons

The Microsoft support system is not one of my favorites. The agents often tell you the same stuff when you chat with them, sometimes things that are utterly irrelevant, and it is far easier to look for support online on your own.

So far I have not had any problems with this software, in fact I find it very easy to use, since it has commands that are very useful for university students who need their work to be uncomplicated.

Pros

I like that it has certain commands that make writing research essays easier. This, because it has, for example, bookmarks, automatic indexes, etc. Also, I like that everything is easy to do with necessary and visible steps.

Cons

I don't like that you can't use the internet so you can share the document with your essay partners, so you can make changes and be visible to everyone in real-time. And if that exists, it is not widely publicized and I don't even know how to do it.
