Nuke Overview
What is Nuke?
Nuke is an application suite of video editing tools, which helps businesses and creative studios manage and create video content including movies, short films, or series using 3D tracking, graphics processing unit (GPU) acceleration, and model building, among other capabilities. Managers can edit, modify, or animate text, transform or morph images based on defined parameters, and change color properties, such as hue, tone, saturation, contrast, and balance.
Using Nuke, businesses can create 360° videos, add, remove or adjust lens distortion in image sequences, and create video scenes including 2D footage, cards, geometry, meshes, lights, and cameras. The Nuke Studio and NukeX platforms allow creative teams to build 3D models, add them in realistic positions, and manipulate advanced particle effects such as dust, fire, rain, or breaking windows. The software also supports multiple image streams, camera views, and reading, writing, raw camera, or file formats, including DPX, EXR, MXF, JPEG, Alembic, PBX, OBJ, and ARRIRAW, among others.
Nuke allows designers to set up and save custom node parameters or toolsets to automate workflows across projects. Using the versioning functionality, creative professionals can view a previous version of shots in the Nuke Studio timeline and add comments to provide feedback to team members. The software also offers real-time playback capabilities, enabling managers to review audio clips, tracks, versions, and sequences.
