My ability to select my own OS, database and choose on premises or cloud without rearchitecting the application to switch later gave me more architectural control than most cloud only ERPs I have reviewed for this process. > > **Cons**: The dual API issue is what I'd caution about. The system is still in the process of transitioning older modules from the older screen based logic to the new class based way so there is a split.Some modules only support SOAP and others support the new class based Web API so thete is no one cohesive integration pattern throughout the system. > > For mid sized enterprises Sage X3 could really be realiable and I would heavily recommend it. If having control over the OS and database you use is important then this is a really attractive option against other purely cloud solutions I surveyed. Transactions are easy to track and to post with the relevant screens that can be navigated through. It is also good for a company with multiple entities as these can be interchanged and tracked easily. The reporting functionality 'SEI' which is an excel add in is quite good and allows individuals to create reports which can be used for relevant purposes. This is a quick and easy way of getting information from the system. the debtors and creditors aging reporting is also quite good which allows us to see a good overview of the transactional aspects of the business. > > **Cons**: Difficult to make any changes if required. There is little information available for self help so if any changes need to be made or assistance then this usually requires an additional cost or discussions with specialists which can be timely and costly. For example, a change in the year end date was not easy for us as there has been forward postings for deferred revenue. Additionally control is a bit lacking with Sage X3, it is difficult to do things like close down month end or specify roles due to having to look in multiple places. A simple month end close you have to go to about 4/5 screens so it is easy to make mistakes here. It is also difficult to upgrade when different patches are released and usually you have to get specialist help with this which can be expensive. > > Overall it does the job required of a finance system. The issues with it is that is is hard to scale. It is difficult to get out of the box functionality to work without having to get specialist help which can come at a price. The system feels quite clunky with multiple steps to get to a result or output. Managing financial records, purchasing, inventory, and reporting became much more organized because everything was available in one place. It reduced the need to switch between different tools and made it easier to keep track of daily operations. I also found the reporting features very useful, as they provide clear insights and help with reviewing important information when needed. After getting familiar with the workflow, routine administrative tasks became more efficient, saving time and reducing manual effort. > > **Cons**: The biggest challenge was the initial implementation and learning process. Sage X3 offers many features, so understanding the different modules and configuring them according to our workflow required some time. New users may need a little training before they become fully comfortable with the system. After the initial setup, however, daily use became much smoother, and the benefits of having an integrated ERP system outweighed the learning curve. > > Overall, my experience with Sage X3 has been very positive.
