Pros
As a small business owner in a niche demographic, I struggle to really think outside the box with my products. Sure, I know that I have a Rose Quartz and Hematite bracelet, and that it's great for loving, calming energy and grounding. But potential visitors won't know to search for any of that. I have documents uploaded that let them search for a stone or a "meaning", and they can find what will work best for them, but they have to scroll the entire thing, and it is cumbersome.
Utilizing Amazon Cloud Search, they are able to quickly search the documents to find what stone they need to look for, or to gather information for a custom order, so the hard work is not placed on the shoulder of the customers. I really like the ability to add more advanced fields for searching, and to customize the data you input to give things a personal touch.
Cons
One thing I wish is that the cost wasn't dynamic. It's very hard to pinpoint how much you will spend here. Since it goes by active searches, the small price quote you get in the beginning will skyrocket if you have more search data for a certain month, or you have bandwidth issues. You should be able to set a maximum price you can spend, and have it autoscale up to that level, and then send you a warning or something to check what traffic of searches are bogging down your site, or to increase your maximum cost limit.
