Highly integrable project management and tracking platform for ease of work and support. We can look on the raised matter , give updates to the team. Can manage and review previously open bugs , queries , projects. Easy to see multiple projects.

Pros

1. One of the best platforms to manage requests and provide updates to the team for ongoing and upcoming changes, projects, bugs, or any other raised matters.
2. Very customized dashboard and intuitive platform to use and manage.
3. Reliable and secure to the environment as well.

My overall experience was amazing! We as a company are at a point where we cannot even operate without Jira on a daily basis. Its very time efficient, so it eliminates hours of work for us so we can get loads done

Pros

How efficient and how its so easy to use for our employees. And also the fact that it streamlines most of our difficult tasks that would usually take hours to do if we did not have Jira

Cons

There was not many cons than pros to be honest, infact there wasn't any cons at all! Everything was at the best quality

Alternatives Considered

Slack and monday.com

Reasons for Switching to Jira

I was attracted more towards the branding they have placed, and the fact that our employees voted to use Jira than most of the other alternatives. Jira was also recommended by a lot of my CEO friends

At the start it's intimidating due to the huge amount of tools it offers, but once you figure them out it becomes a very useful tool with tons of options and the ability to customize things to best accommodate your team and automate the management process.

Pros

Incredibly complete and robust project management tool. Has basically everything, and gives you the ability to power things up even further by programming custom logics, both inside the tool and outside, by using its API.

Cons

Figuring out which template works best, and what are their differences, can take a while.

In general, I consider JIRA as a tool that after being adopted, we simply cannot stop using it. In addition to being very intuitive, coworkers can be informed or report the progress of activities from their mobile device.
It is excellent for involving all departments of the organization in a single direction, when we talk about executing a project with own, contracted or external resources.

Pros

Jira is a very complete tool for tracking tasks, sharing work and, in general, for project control.
Getting started with it was very simple and requires practically no learning curve.
A very useful feature is that it can be adapted to almost any type of project and the use of templates makes it easier to adapt to the way we want to manage our resources.
Notifications can be configured automatically or specifically for a person and we can share documents and photographs as evidence of our work.

Cons

Its licensing may not be as flexible or accessible for small businesses. Therefore, it is important to consider the total number of licenses for which we must pay to use all the functionalities of the tool.
It is important to understand that we are storing the historical memory of our projects and even many times contractually, we are obliged to keep this information available several years after finishing a project if the contract requires it.

Having worked with Jira for 10 years, I appreciate its powerful capabilities for project management and tracking. Its flexibility and extensive customization have made it invaluable, especially in complex projects.

Pros

I like most about Jira is its robust functionality for tracking tasks and managing projects, especially within Agile teams. The ability to create customizable workflows, track progress on Kanban or Scrum boards, and organize tasks with detailed labels, filters, and priorities makes it incredibly versatile.

Cons

I like least about Jira is that it can be quite complex and overwhelming, especially for new users. The interface has a steep learning curve, and navigating between different boards, projects, and settings can feel cumbersome. Customization options are powerful but can lead to confusion if not configured carefully. Additionally, Jira can sometimes feel slow or laggy with larger projects, impacting overall productivity.

Overall I would rate it good, it's a perfect tool for any software or even non-software organization. I think the backend team is quite innovative and creative that I feel I would not think of any other alternative for the next 10 years.

Pros

It's Easy to use, the user interface is quite user friendly. Almost everything self explanatory, from raising a bug to closing it, resolving it. If any new person who has never used JIRA, starts using it, it wouldn't take more than 1-2 days for him/her to fully understand it. Additionally it provides you an option of extracting reports where you can view/track your/your team's performance, the work load and many more things which would help you take decisions.
I also like the feature of creating dashboards in JIRA, it gives a rich and professional look to your work, which you can showcase to your team, management and other stakeholders.

Cons

There's not much but the scope of reports and dashboard is sometimes limited like I wish to include more options/filters but I couldn't.

Ease of setting up plugins
Large number of extension features

Cons

Searchability sucks. High dependency on project setup and structure of the fields. JQL has become so complex .. only power users can use it.
Once the project is over and due to the fluidity of jira structure. Its impossible to get all the information in a consolidated manner.
It is as good as the people who are managing it. Tool should be able to provide information the absence of processes but its other way around with JIRA .. Use AI.

A Transformative Tool for Agile Project Management

Reviewed on 4/10/2024

Jira has truly elevated our project management process. Its versatility and advanced capabilities...

Jira has truly elevated our project management process. Its versatility and advanced capabilities have made task delegation, sprint planning, and project tracking efficient and transparent. Once the initial learning period passes, the tool proves to be a game-changer for agile teams. I highly recommend it to any organization looking to streamline workflows and foster better collaboration.

Pros

Jira is an exceptional project management tool, offering a wide range of features for seamless task tracking, sprint planning, and collaboration. Its customizable workflows make it easy to tailor Jira to any team’s needs. The intuitive agile boards visually simplify progress tracking, while integrations with Confluence, Github, draw.io, and other tools streamline communication and productivity. Furthermore, real-time reporting and analytics provide powerful insights, helping teams stay aligned and on target.

Cons

While Jira offers a wide array of features, new users might find the platform somewhat complex at first. However, this initial learning curve is easily overcome with adequate training and time, and the software becomes much more intuitive. The pricing can concern smaller teams, but the value it adds to project management and workflow efficiency makes it a worthwhile investment.
