Best solution that you can even sell over other AVs as an add on even if they are on a current contract.

Pros

It is the best software I have found for COMPLETE ransomware protection.

Cons

Price for Endpoint, Intercept X and EDR all adds up fast and can scare clients.

Reasons for Choosing Intercept X Endpoint

Panda could never get my billing right.

Reasons for Switching to Intercept X Endpoint

Ingram Micro billing was a huge plus over pandas own billing department that kept over billing me. ESET takes to long to setup. I was up and going in three minutes with Sophos.

Response from Sophos

Glad to hear you've been having success with Intercept X. Thanks for the review!

decent scanning

Pros

Configuring options and scan profiles from the cloud hosted web portal is convenient and easy to keep every machine compliant. Cloud hosted means we don't have to run any infrastructure, just install it on all our endpoints.

Cons

Some complaints that it slows computers way down, opened a support ticket, they were useless, asks the same questions over and over, didn't answer back to my replies for days, convinced me not to renew our licenses.

Considering that this is one piece to an overall package, we have been very happy and the end to end visibility is unmatched when researching threats in our environment. What few downsides are present are miniscule when packaged together with the rest of the offerings.

Pros

The deployment capabilities and consistency in using MDM deployment has been very important to minimize the opportunity for devices to be put into production without properly being secured. not all MSI packages are deployed the same and we have had products in the past that have installed well on some machines and not on others so consistency is key for the deployment.

Cons

The agent has not yet had all services re-branded after the Hitman acquisition which led us down an unnecessary rabbit hole. My only other complaint would be that the agent runs heavy on workstations and in many cases, has pushed us to upgrade to m.2 drives for machines that otherwise didnt need them.

Alternatives Considered

FortiClient and Malwarebytes for Business

Reasons for Switching to Intercept X Endpoint

We already used Sophos firewalls and the visibility by staying with the same vendor for endpoint protection made more sense from a value-add perspective than breaking away and going with a 3rd party.

Sophos : A leader in Next Generation detection and response with deep visibility

Sophos is way ahead compared to other products in machine learning and analytics-based attack prediction, analyzing the threats and sandboxing. Threat hunting with Sophos is exceptional and Memory usage by the agent is less feedback from end-users. It makes an analyst's job easy when it comes to an incident analysis by through the end device logs. It is only hard to pitch as it is a cloud-based platform for governments.

Pros

Sophos capabilities as detection and response to the Malware attacks are excellent. very deep insights into endpoint devices where it provides later movement, deep analysis, and storyline of the attack. It is a step ahead of predicting zero-day attacks.

Cons

Sophos is currently moved everything to cloud pitching for Government customers is hard because of data restrictions they want to implement on-premises. cost wise is Sopho's intercept X is higher compared to other vendors.

Alternatives Considered

SentinelOne

Reasons for Choosing Intercept X Endpoint

Symantec is a very traditional product that lacks many parameters in protection, GUI, Customer support and server maintenance, etc.

Reasons for Switching to Intercept X Endpoint

Sentinel one is also a better product and excellent in protecting zero-day vulnerabilities but it is expensive when compared to other products in the market.

A good experience in which I saw many advantages that some competing companies lack and that can increase the company’s opportunities in the market if other problems are addressed.

Pros

Many features caught my attention, including the inability to bypass or disable Endpoint protection even with Administrator permission.
Sending warnings to the email with a report stating the threat and the path of the threat to the server In addition to the ability to manage it through the cloud easily, which provides the management of server protection quickly and from anywhere.

Cons

A little delay in the issuance of reports and sending them to the e-mail, which can cause a delayed response to cyber incidents. It also lacks some features such as stopping the network of the infected server with Malware and focusing on isolating it more than dealing with the matter It also lacks to close suspicious sites that are not closed in the firewall or even alert the user.

Alternatives Considered

FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall

Reasons for Switching to Intercept X Endpoint

Because it meets the needs of the business and the ability to manage the required number of users with efficiency and a suitable price for the company, and also because there are several advantages in Sophos devices such as the Remote Ethernet Device (RED).

The software was very easy to install and configure. We have not had any issues with viruses or malware. We also have not had anything flagged by other solutions we have tested alongside Intercept X.

Pros

For such a sophisticated software approach it was surprising how low a footprint Intercept X was on our computers and networks.

Cons

The concept of non-database driven antivirus/antispyware solutions takes some time to wrap your (and others) heads around, but once you look into the process it is quite impressive.

Reasons for Choosing Intercept X Endpoint

Webroot is amazing software just not as cost efficient.

Reasons for Switching to Intercept X Endpoint

We wanted a A/V solution that provided AI and cloud management.

Pros

Sophos Endpoint has been a great addition to our organization. It makes AV management far simpler than we could have imagined. With a centralized interface, we can manage PC's and deal with any issues with little knowledge to the end user. It integrates wonderfully with our AD and our Sophos XG Firewalls. The protection it provides is fantastic.

Cons

Occasionally we do encounter some issues with updates not always reenabling the endpoint. but it's rare and fixed easily. I do wish there was an easy way to push out the installer. Support from Sophos is slow, can be on hold for hours.

Alternatives Considered

My work experience is to detect threats that other antivirus did not, in addition to obtaining a cause and root diagram generated by the tool to discover the thread of the infected computer, this is of great help for an administrator.

Pros

Actually the operation is excellent, it performs the locks correctly and it is not so intrusive when blocking other programs that are reliable, it is also extremely light and does not slow down the computer's processing.
Best of all, with the sophos brand is the synchronized technology, in a scenario in which there is an xg firewall, if a computer becomes infected, the endpoint protection will send a heartbeat to the firewall to inform you and isolate the equipment to that it does not infect others over the network.

Cons

Probably the cost, the endpoint protection solution with Sophos its cost becomes high, however, it is worth having such protection for the equipment.

Alternatives Considered

Really positive experience of using this product and deploys easily. Support and online community is great and you can get the answers you need quickly

Pros

The product is very feature rich and allows us to, in quite a bit of granularity stop, block and allow devices to do things - the product is very intuitive and when testing against other products found threats quicker

Cons

As with everything there is functionality that is "gated" behind extra licensing requirements

Reasons for Choosing Intercept X Endpoint

The agreement was coming to the end and it just felt that the Kaspersky product was very "clunky" (even the "new" cloud offering) when compared to the lite install of Sophos.

Reasons for Switching to Intercept X Endpoint

Purely for the features and reporting

As a SMB with a small IT team supporting a midsize organization. We are partial to products that are quick to deploy and requires little day to day maintenance. However we also take security seriously and required a product we could trust to do so. We selected the Sophos cloud product from the Sophos Endpoint Security. It had a quick learning curve and deployment time was minimal. We've also had consistently positive feedback from our users. The alerts are meaningful and we've been able to apply policy based rules on all our users, having a complete adoption. This is a great product for SMB, however larger organisations may require more customization and should be sure to test this product proper prior to selection to see if it suits their specific needs.

Pros

Great cloud based product, with an easy and intuitive management interface.
Was very fast to deploy the clients and setup policies.
Integrates with other Sophos products in the management interface, making it easy to manage all your security solutions one place.
Great price point compared to features and functionality.
Low resource footprint on most workstations.

Cons

Sophos isn't consistent with which identity solution they support. Some requiring Azure AD and others on-premise AD. To solve this, you need to split the Sophos products over two web management interfaces, which isn't smart or intuitive.
Sophos support can sometimes be a bit slow getting back to you, but seems to be improving.
Features are super easy to implement, but it sometimes comes at the cost of transparency.

Pros

This caused little to no interference or slowdowns to the system. No macbook protected by it ever developed an infection.

Cons

It was not usually the scanner that hogged resourced, but its updater. The SophosUpdater consumed the majority of energy, disc read/writes, and bandwidth for every machine. The only incident I had with it slowing a computer down was when we had to backup and move off of a device. Then it insisted on pre-scanning everything that was "tar-balled" dragging a 45 minute operation out to 4 hours and refused to halt or quit that scan.

I have been happy with Sophos and it has been on of the pieces of Anti-Virus software that has required the least maintenance and attention.

Pros

It's great for me as a user. Easy install with a installation package and easy to maintain. I basically don't have to do anything and any update is automatic. I can run the scan manually but it's also done automatically. The ease is perfect and I don't have to use any time within the application. I can ask IT to run the automatic scan at a different time and create a policy for you as the scan do take a lot of cpu.

Cons

The scan is pretty heavy on the machine but you can get around it with policies. I have asked IT to run the scan during lunch. It's working like a charm besides the heavy CPU usage.
