Awesome for having the day you want!

Reviewed on 22/10/2024

Pros

I loved the way that the app not only helps you schedule and organize but also tried to help you stick to the plan.

Cons

The learning curve. For instance when starting to use the app the tabs looked cluttered. Once I made sense of everything I loved it, not really a con in the end.

I highly recommend Notion for smaller teams and projects. It is a great way to collaborate with team members and keep everyone on the same page in a very organized fashion.

Pros

Notion is very easy to use and does not require much training. It is very intuitive. It is really helpful for collaborating with team members which for us are mostly remote. It's a great way to help us stay connected.

Cons

Our team grew pretty rapidly and so did our projects. We found that Notion was missing some features we wished we had. I think we just out grew Notion but it was great when our team was smaller.

Generally I really like Notion to collect things I am going to use many times.

I keep there my know-how, notes about my customers (elastic templates are very useful), ideas and recipes. Notion is especially good with recipes kind of stuff, sort by different categories :D

This is also, of course, very useful notebook. Mobile app works well, however iPad app has a tendency to freeze (maybe because my iPad is not a very new device).

Most of useful features is free and Notion is a well-known app with a stable position on the market, so it is really convenient to use - safely.

Worth mentioning is also a huge community around Notion. You can easily find plenty of templates (free or premium) which help you using Notion the way you need without spending time for projecting your own solutions.

Pros

I absolutely adore the whole database philosophy which allows me to collect data about things I own, things I know, ideas and other things I like to have in one place. The best thing is that I can nest any database (or a piece of it) everywhere I want.

Cons

There are two things I do not enjoy. Time management could be improved, more into Asana/Clickup philosophy. Since it does not work this way, I use other app to manage my tasks even though I thought Notion could be one-in-all solution.
The other things is the impossibility to make notes unhierarchical, which I truly like. But well, Notion way of working is deeply hierarchical.

My overall experience with Notion is great. I'm using it everyday since two years and it is the main platform for my project management. I allows me to setup a new project in a very efficient manner. It doesn't lag or stops in the middle. Before notion I was using other platforms as well but they wasn't the one that I was looking for. I'm a website designer and over the years I've managed and completed over 350 website designing projects.

Pros

Over the couple of years, Notion has become my everyday buddy. This has been the easiest platform that allowed me to manage multiple projects at the same time. I'm a website designer by profession so I require a platform where I can track my different projects or clients.
I can mention particular team members in the projects I want.
In simple words, I would say Notion is a perfect tool for teams.
I can easily create different projects and attach links or media files in them. It also allows you to prioritize tasks.

Cons

For cons, I would say that Notion sometimes can be very overwhelming for many users to use. It can be confusing for new users as there are so many tools and options to use. I myself got confused in my initial days of using Notion. I generally forget how to start a new line, or break lines after every link I add. Some people who like flashy colors or graphics may find it boring.

Great for Startups, not sure about Mature Businesses

The way we used it at the startup I was working remotely at was kind of like a complete workplace with all the documents and various functions and projects loaded on there. I think this works well for a small team, but I don't think its super scalable without some serious forethought and planning, and likely some kind of "Notion Consultant" to help organise things.

Pros

Notion has a lovely layout with the left sidebar containing all the different pages, projects, tasks, etc. A little silly, but I love that we can add banners and emojis to the title and make the "virtual workplace" our own. Its great to be able to integrate other apps into Notion. We added our Gdrive, Slack, and Figma into the space and it functioned well. There are also ways to share specific pages with guests, and its possible to have private pages, separate from the team.

Cons

As lovely as the layout is, our Notion became cluttered and messy fast because we didn't quite know where to add what (e.g. tasks, projects, pages, etc.). It takes quite a bit of knowledge and forethought to organise a team around it. I also don't like that there are very limited fonts and typography. So anything that we export to PDF doesn't look part of our brand and we have to re-do it on another software. Also, when we embed documents in our pages, we don't quite have the same visibility (i.e. we have to click on a specific page to see what documents are linked to it). Maybe that's the way its intended to be, but I found it a little annoying and often just used Gdrive instead.

And also how I can customise each cell in table like I can add chechboxes, dropdown menu etc. And also it allows me to search for an item in the table without scrolling.

Cons

Least is I would say the sidebar. Once you have added enough items scrolling doesnt work. They add small button more at the bottm and them again scroll to find the itme. I can add favorites so that I can access them easily but still scrilling or seacrhing would have been nice

It saves a ton of time and easily keeps my business organised in a way where I don't have to think about it. It's an essential tool for juggling multiple timelines on document and project deadlines.

Pros

Notion allows you to run a business, and keeps you on track with managing projects so you meet deadlines with ease. It allows you to brainstorm your ideas, and flush them out or make notes for later so you have a point of reference to further expand upon. Adding pages and blocks are super easy and I can collaborate with my team so everyone is notified of what is happening in regards to time specific tasks.

Cons

You have a limit on file size on the free plan which is 5MB. Although that's still quite large you cannot go any larger than that. There's also a limit on how many people you can collaborate with on the free plan, but if you're team is 5 people or smaller you'll be able to function quite well. Anything over these two hurdles you will need to invest in a paid plan.

I highly recommend Notion and do recommend Notion to colleagues. It's one software I see people adopt the easiest on a recommendation. I use it for daily for organizing my work load, client notes where appropriate, and action points. I use it for managing responsibilities at home too.

Pros

Notion makes organizing and note taking far easier than other current options. Being able to organize pages into databases and tables means I can manage my work load as a type of list with all the notes on each piece of work contained in a page tied to that list. The elements such as code blocks also make adding reference notes so much easier to come back to and use in future. It keeps me very organized. As a non-enterprise user the options are still endless and provides a good case to bring others on board as a collaborative tool - especially when it comes to sharing process documentation.

Cons

Unless it's changed, there were some promising options of integrating with mail calendars but it didn't look like this was suitable for work mail / Office 365.

For me it is not a professional tool because it is very slow as I said before and the support is very bad.

I have actually a big bug which exist since 2 years and Notion support don't help me about it.

My bug is:

I have 2 databases and 1 column to make some "Relation" between them. It was working perfectly before but some day Notion made some update and since this day, In my "Relation" column, it does not suggest anymore the datas that I have in another table.

I reported this issue and the support team ignores this.

Notion has a lot of limited features for FREE accounts like automations, file upload limit or inviting some family member.

Pros

The ability to create databases quickly to store informations instead of using Excel for example.

Cons

Notion is EXTREMELY slow if you are using it to store a lot of data like 2000+ pages

The support, it is very very very VERY difficult to get some one AND it is EXTREMELY difficult to report a bug.

Each time we report a bug or something like this, the support is like a robot, they ask ALWAYS the same questions like "What is your device please?" even if I precise it before and I say it is the same issue on each device

It is a powerful tool that has attracted a lot of attention in recent years. It gives us the ability to generate and sort different types of material, such as notes, databases, wikis, tasks and more, in a flexible way and from a customized base. I value Notion's diversity because it allows me to devise my own designs and procedures to meet my needs. The drag-and-drop interface and powerful search capability make it easy to find and navigate information quickly. The program also supports collaboration, making it possible to join and work on documents in real time with other users. This feature is particularly useful for groups and remote employees.

Pros

Notion provides us with the ability to generate and sort different types of material, from simple notes to complex databases, wikis, work lists and more. This versatility gives us the possibility to conceive our own designs and procedures to suit our particular needs. It offers a variety of customization possibilities, such as templates, transformation tools and integration with different apps. It gives us the opportunity to customize the software according to the needs and work procedures. It supports collaboration among staff members, allowing all staff members to collaborate and work on documents live and in real time. This feature is particularly interesting for remote employees who need to collaborate in different time zones.

Cons

Notion's text editor offers a number of presentation possibilities, however, I think there may be a limitation in terms of customization. Notion does not have strong automation features like other knowledge management tools. This may be a difficulty for users who require quite a bit of automation to shorten their work cycles and decrease hand work.
