I had 2 experiences :
1) Helped a student to scaffold a blog => OK easy
2) I hoped to scaffold really quickly a simple WebShop for a Volley ball club, based on the free tiers offer.
Didn't want to manage it for them.
But I quickly understood thant couldn't manage the entire process without a long training.
You should provite "simplified worklfow".
Pros
Service, easy to START a project, in a few minutes, with a few questions, you create a website that SEEMS to fit your needs.
Response time of the web interface is really great, that convinced me to use it.
The feeling is good at first sight .. but ...
Cons
Then when you start to dig into the details, it's really hard to setup it.
Absolutely not user friendly. Some Workflox / UX designs are juste ... horrible.
Setup is spread everywhere in different Apps.
You quickly need to dig really deep to understand the product.
Only "developer" oriented (I'm a developer)
Online documentation is a mess. Seems to be great but is always partally translated (in FR), resulting in "Frenchglish" documentation.
Reasons for Choosing Odoo
Wordpress was too slow. But it was easier to setup.Reasons for Switching to Odoo

It’s a Total Scam – Avoid Odoo at All Costs!

Using Odoo was one of the worst decisions we’ve ever made. We signed up for their subscription at $13.60/month, only to be charged over $30 in the second month despite not adding any apps or users.
Their account manager, [sensitive content hidden], is completely unprofessional—ignoring emails for days and only responding when relentlessly pushed. The experience dealing with her was beyond frustrating.
When we asked for an explanation for the extra charges, they first claimed we used additional apps. After we provided proof that we didn’t, they shifted to saying we added new users—another lie. We sent further proof showing we had only one user, and since then, they’ve gone completely silent. Two weeks, multiple follow-ups, and still no response.
We cancelled our subscription out of sheer frustration, losing money in the process. No refund, no accountability, and absolutely no care for their customers.
Odoo is a scam. Don’t trust their pricing, their team, or their service. If you value your time and money, stay far away.

Pros
My entire business runs on Odoo. I don't have to try to sync data between multiple apps.
Cons
The appearance is very utilitarian, it could be made to be more appealing.
I hate that I am forced to doing a purchase order, then receive and order and then a vendor bill and then a vendor payment. You should be able to simplify all of that from just 1 vendor payment screen.

Overall, I have found both the software and support from the Odoo technical team good. They have been responsive to my inquiries and their answers have provided a clear path to solving any issues I came across in my set-up journey. For what you get with this solution the yearly subscription model is more than fair and well-worth the spend. Thank you Odoo.
Pros
I have found Odoo's suite of applications to be comprehensive and well-integrated thus far in my first experience with this platform. It is clear the Odoo team has put in considerable time and effort into creating this all-in-one business solution.
Cons
The nature of setting up several modules and aligning with the needs of your particular business type can be a little daunting. While there is extensive documentation on each application, I feel like some of the topics could be fleshed out a little more thoroughly.

I’m pleasantly surprised by how we were able to implement an ERP for a new business using one platform. We were able to customize it for our clients particular needs and regulations.

The accessible, included features to implement ERP in your business. Options to host in cloud, in your infra or using odoosh infra. Highly customizable, big community with addons.

DO NOT USE ODOO!

I wish I had only signed up to pay monthly, but my "account manager" convinced me that signing up for a year and adding all the users upfront would be cheaper. I started with using the platform to replace QuickBooks. I paid for a two-hour support session with my rep, and during the call, he had to look up or ask somebody else for the answers to my questions on how to do something. By the end of the call, he had not answered how to enter beginning balances. It is a basic function of accounting software, but he didn’t know and said he would get back to me. Here we are three months later, and he hasn't gotten back to me. There were other outstanding items I needed answers to, but he hasn't responded to any of my emails. I emailed him asking for a phone call, but I got ghosted. I contacted customer support to help me connect my banking account to the application, and it took them three weeks to respond, and their answer didn’t fix it. I run a business, and waiting three weeks for that is just unacceptable. Getting no response from my "Account Manager" is unacceptable. Clearly, he's got the wrong title because he manages nothing! He can't even do his job.
So, now, this gets worse. I asked for a refund because the platform is unusable to me. Guess what? I won't be getting one. Why, you ask? Because the company is based in Belgium and I am in the States. Seriously, that's the reason they gave me. WHAT THE HECK?
I've now switched to Zoho and can't be happier! Please consider my experience and try something else instead!
Pros
I like that there are many apps in one platform.
Cons
The applications are not user-friendly! I'm good at learning software, but this one is foreign and complicated. The customer service is HORRIBLE!

As an Odoo user, my overall experience has been a mix of clear benefits and challenges. Starting with the positive, I love the flexibility of the system. The ability to customize and tailor applications to my business’s specific needs has been a huge plus. The fact that everything is integrated into one system – sales, accounting, inventory, and marketing – really helps make workflows smoother and improves overall visibility into operations.
The interface is fairly modern and easy to understand, which is great for someone who doesn’t have much technical knowledge. However, when it comes to more advanced setups, I have found myself needing to hire a consultant for initial implementation as some aspects of the system can be quite complex.
Pros
I really like its user-friendly and modern interface. This software has an intuitive and easy-to-use interface.
As it is an open source software, Odoo is very flexible to customize applications according to the needs of the company.
Odoo integrates all areas of the business very well, facilitating the management of business processes from accounting and sales to inventory and marketing.
Cons
Initial setup and customization can require a lot of time, technical knowledge or expert help.
Sometimes, when we want to upgrade Odoo to a new version, previous customizations may not be compatible, causing additional effort to adapt custom integrations or modules. Otherwise, all is well.

Horrific. I feel like they literally stole my money. Nobody could help me quickly without me paying insane amounts of money for them to just literally fix bugs in their system. I sent in an insane amount of help tickets given that I didn't really need the most advanced system in the world. If you are a small business and have only a small amount of tech experience, avoid Odoo like the plague. I cannot speak to how they might be with more advanced needs, but for me, it was genuinely the worst customer experience I have ever had.
Pros
They have a huge variety of apps to choose from and customize. You are able to adapt the software to your needs, however...do not expect to get adequate help or for their instructions to be up to date.
Cons
Almost everything. After purchasing and getting close to the opening of my business, I realized it was probably too complicated a software for me given that my needs as a one-man business are super low. However, I was fine with that - as long as things worked. And they did not. Their point of sale app repeated stopped working completely while my shop was open, and nobody could help me over the phone (even though it was urgent). I would send error codes to their tech team, and every single time, the tech team said they couldn't do anything with the error code. Their sales team was incredibly uninformed when I initially signed up, and told me that I would be able to use my own IoT box without subscribing to the odoo IoT subscription. It became very apparent that this was not the case, fine, I paid for the IoT subscription - then as soon as I did, we realized that the reason we needed could be circumvented very easily. Not to mention, we couldn't connect it to our receipt printer to begin with, and their online instructions were about 10 years out of date. We have since switched to shopify and everything has worked SO smoothly. All I needed was a simple point of sale and inventory system, and Odoo oversold and dramatically underdelivered. My sales rep was on vacation and unable to help me when I opened my business. The large majority of my stress was caused by their system literally not working. My experience with them was a disaster and despite them completely misleading me about the IoT box integration, they refuse to reimburse me. This is apparently their policy, which to me, seems incredibly unethical. Don't sell me something I don't need when the salesperson is on vacation or refuses to talk to me. I cannot scream loud enough for you to avoid this if you are a small business.

Overall, my experience with Odoo has been very positive. The platform offers a wide range of tools that are easy to use and integrate seamlessly with each other, which has greatly improved our operational efficiency. Customer support is helpful, although response times can sometimes be slow. Despite this, once in contact with the support team, they are always professional and resolve any issues efficiently. The platform’s flexibility and customization options have allowed us to tailor it to our specific needs, which is a big plus.
Pros
I really appreciate the wide variety of tools available on the platform and how easy it is to use them
Cons
Although customer service is great once they respond, the response time can be slow. For example, two Wednesdays ago, I opened a ticket regarding an issue that could only be resolved by contacting the support team. I didn’t receive a response until the following Monday, after I reached out via WhatsApp to an executive who found the ticket and partially resolved it through email. I continued communicating through email to fully resolve the issue, but didn’t receive a reply. I even opened a second ticket, and the situation was only fully resolved the following Monday. The executives were very polite and resolved everything, but the response time could be improved, including acknowledging receipt of the ticket sooner
